This is the best all-around travel pack out there. I use it for all my trips - from a 3 day trip up to Tahoe to a 2 week trip to Ecuador, because it compresses to be a compact weekender, but it also expands to hold a lot of stuff. The best feature is the open mouth zipper, so I can lay it flat on the ground and easily get my stuff out - rather than flipping it upside down and shaking everything out onto the floor. It also has a re-enforced bottom, and is made with tough cordura, so when I have it packed out and I need to check it at the airport, I know all my stuff won't get wet or ruined by the baggage guys.Added bonus: the secret pocket behind the shoulders is perfect to secure my passport and wallet with easy access.

i first wanna mention that this bag is kinda big. not huge like the warsaw (i have this and use it to get my dog's food - 30 lb bag) but definitely larger than what you would typically refer to as a large backpack. i bought this bag with the intention of replacing my citizen messenger, but i'm so sure i'll be doing that anymore. anyway...with that said, i really like this bag. i like the subdued aesthetic styling of this bag; it may be too plain for some though. i'm pretty big on organizational compartments and this bag has enough (5 inside the main compartment / 2 on the exterior) - i wouldn't mind a few more, but it's fine. another thing i like about this bag is that it fully unzips so that you can more easily pack your contents. rolltop and messenger bags don't allow for this type of convenience, but this bag does.
i rode with it on my back home tonight and it was very comfortable (i find chrome usually gets the comfort right on their backpacks). also, i didn't have any issues with my vision being blocked by the top corners of the bag while looking behind me, an issue that i know is true with a few of the their rolltop bags and the warsaw (but the warsaw is just plain HUGE, so this is expected).
however, no bag is perfect and i couldn't help but notice that this bag didn't have any reflective material on it whatsoever. it also didn't have a place for me to clip a rear blinker (something i've seen on many bags). another thing i wish the bag had were straps on the side to keep the bag compressed if i wasn't carrying a whole lot.
aside from these minor issues, i'm happy with my purchase.
bottom line: big backpack. nice minimalist design with a good amount of organizing compartments. not ideal as an everyday commuter, unless you carry a lot all the time. at full capacity i think i can carry 4 gallons of milk and a few other small items.
hope this was helpful for anyone considering this bag :]

I'm an old bowl riding skateboarder, who has searched high and low for a good skate pack that wouldn't fall apart in one season. Skate companies view backpacks as an afterthought and build and sell them cheap. I needed a pack that would fit my giant knee pads, helmet, wrist guards (did I mention that I'm old), a sweatshirt, water bottle, and six pack of beer. This pack does all that with room to spare and it is constructed properly, the combination of cordura and tarp lining is the only way to build a truly tough pack. The only thing missing are board straps, which I knew when I purchased it. Durability was more important to me than being able to carry my board. I rigged up a rack to my bike to carry my board to the park but find that it is a pain in the ass. So at any rate a dedicated skate pack would be a welcome addition to your line. The Cardiel (ALL HAIL CARDIEL!!) pack wasn't out yet when I bought the Boris and maybe it can hold a board, I didn't see any pics of it with a board, but it has straps at least. Any way I still love my bag but I think there is a market for a well built skate pack.

Lived out of this bag for three months while traveling in Europe. With a small stowable daypack I kept inside when not needed I had the perfect setup. I rode in Denmark and Amsterdam with this and carried it on ferries and airplanes. Most of the time I just took it as a carry on but a few times I had to check luggage it. It was left in the rain for almost an hour without any getting into my clothes. This thing is huge but really comfortable to wear. I use it now for my grocery shopping because I can carry a weeks worth of food on my back. Seriously an awesome backpack. Not good for everyday use because of the size and it doesn't feel right when half full but carries a load incredibly well while still maintaining its shape. Hidden passport pocket is awesome. Carried my passport and paperwork in it and the compartments inside work great for pulling out liquids when going through airport security. Kept me organized and confident. The best thing is the pack looks as good as the day I got it. I don't know how, I was never careful with it while traveling but it doesn't show a mark. Whenever I need a large pack this is my go to bag. Now its got a lot of sentimental value and I'm glad that I know it will hold up for years of more world travel.

I really don't have much problems with the bag at all! It literally is one the sexiest bags I have ever owned!! Powerful, sturdy, stylish and able to hold all my needs. However today i was walking home, and it just started to rain. When I arrived home, I found some of my books were wet. That is because the big U-zip does not keep all the water out. So overall, this bag is a must get for travelers and students since it can handle all of our needs including up to 17in laptops!
If the big U-zip was waterproof, that would make this bag the best ever! Still this bag is AWESOME!! Thank you!

Wrote a pretty exhaustive look at this bag after using it for nearly a year.

Bought this bag while it was on sale over a month ago and i'm really happy with the bag. I race road often and bought the Boris because I wanted to be able to get all my gear in one place. Helmet, cleats, kits (various options for weather conditions), tools, food, and all the water bottles that I need - a ton of water bottles. I was very happy to realize that I was able to get it all in, and access it once I was at the races. As of now, I've taken this thing to four races in four weeks and I'm getting all of my teammates interested too, as they fuddle with all their bags and loose bottles. This thing rules.
Otherwise, the construction is what I have come to expect from Chrome (I commute with a Citizen). It's sturdy, comfortable and water proof (?), although I haven't dipped it in a pool yet, but I have been rained on.
Can't wait to take it on a trip.

Bought this bag just before the holidays for a couple weeks of traveling. The bag easily fit a week's worth of cold weather clothing with room to spare. The black on black looks clean and inconspicuous, and it was surprisingly comfortable to wear for a full day of city walking. Minimal design looks great, though I wish there were some better organizing pockets like on Chrome's other bags. Compression straps are a huge omission. Most travel bags have them. Overall, nicely designed, very large, very simple. Nice bag.
Pros:
-Clamshell design is perfect for easy access.
-Looks great, really solidly built.
-Straps are comfortable for carrying a lot of weight.
Cons:
-Really wish the bag had some compression straps. The bag is quite deep, so all your stuff tends to settle at the bottom of the bag. Some basic compression straps would really help keep things in place when carrying and keep the bag from bulging out the back when fully packed.
-The side pocket is poorly designed. Its lined in heavy black tarp material and an odd triangular shape. Stuff just sort of gets lost in this little black hole. Its stiff and hard to get things in and out of.
-The secret passport pocket is a great idea, but its hard to access even when you take the bag off. You have to take the bag off and sort of fold the straps back to get anything out. Wish it was a bit bigger so it could fit my flight itinerary or a bit more stuff. The lack of useable exterior pockets on the bag is a bit unfortunate.
-Wish I could remove the sternum strap. Probably nice when riding, but when not in use, they just sort of flap around and detract from the clean simplicity of the bag. Also, not sure what the velcro on the straps does other than make a scratchy diaper like noise... I think I might just cut off the velcro.

I just finished using this bag for the first time on a 4 day trip to Chicago. Even though I got the bag to have for short trips like this one, I could have stayed for weeks with the amount of stuff I fit in there. I checked the bag on the plane, and when I claimed the luggage in Chicago the backpad and straps were soaked from being left in the rain on the tarmac. I opened it up to find my clothes bone DRY. Not only is the bag large enough to fit your stuff and tough enough to get thrown under a plane, it's comfortable enough to wear, completely full, on long walks. Not to mention that it looks f'n sweet.

I shopped around for the right bag for quite a while until I decided to go with the Boris. I ride to 2 jobs everyday and needed a bag with sufficient space to carry all of my items. With the Boris space is never an issue, I can fit everything I need and still have room. The bag itself is also incredibly comfortable to wear while riding and the back flow panels allow for plenty of air flow. All in all I can not stress enough how much I love this bag, I definitely give the Boris 5 stars.

max carry on size, goes in the bins of embrair prop plane. holds your clothes, goes on your back, what more do you want?
if you are an airport regular and pack in one bag for up to 5 days... this is it

I will say this has been the best bag I have used. So far I haven't lost a can of paint! And best part about this is that it doesn't make a whole lot of nose when your running. I give this bag 5*+. Also I would recommended getting black if you like tagging at night, just that it's best when hiding.

I purchased the Boris as a replacement commute backpack. It didn't get a really good idea of the size from the pictures above. First off, it's big. Bigger that I'm used to in a backpack. This will NOT fit in an overhead bin of any airplane smaller than a 737 and unless you have it full of clothes you can fold and push around, it'll never fit under a coach seat.
There's no quick access anything which is good for secure travel, but not so good for getting to your keys quickly.
The interior compartment zippers should be sewn in going in the opposite direction. They unzip from bottom to top, meaning you open the exterior compartment almost completely before getting to the zipper. Make it zip from the top down and it'll make for easier access, i.e. I can get to it while standing it up.
What's good is the solid construction. It's heavy and I'm a believer that if its' heavy, it's solid.
The shoulder straps are appropriately wide and comfortable.
The back while well padded can get pretty warm.
The thing just wants to say on your back. It's just wide enough for me that it molds around a little making for a solid area of contact so there's not a lot of slip.
Bottom line, if you want a good long weekend bag that'll hold your laptop, clothes and a few other things your good. If you want a daily commute bag that'll hold a complete change of clothes, lunch and shoes, your good. If your just looking to carry your lunch and a few books, this is overkill.
