I have a habit of carrying large loads, 2-weeks worth of groceries/dumpster gold, bike frames and parts, large boxes etc. A few agos I started work as a messenger too. This bag is fantastic for both purposes.
For space/groceries/cargo, the bag is massive. It also compacts neatly into a pretty flat square when stuff isn't packed into it. This is a big plus next to some other (and smaller!) bags I've used that retain their bulkier shape more. I feel like my 5-year old nephew could hide inside this thing it's so big. I like the simplicity of the main pocket, something I've come to love chrome for. Just one giant bucket, with a velcro flap to potentially divide it into two still large compartments. Another flap revealing a smaller pocket for tools, a poncho, etc. And a couple nice book sized pocket on the outside (under the flap) with smaller zipper pockets up front and organization pouches for pens and such. Simple enough, but not too simple either. My writing/stationary, my books, my lunch, my tools, my cargo/groceries are all neatly separated. The padded back is also wonderful. Super comfortable and pretty well balanced with light or heavy loads. A little hot/sweaty on longer rides or humid days, but that's to be expected with most backpacks.
For messenger work (and other conveniences), all of the above is great, but there's a few more things. The zipped side-pocket is (almost) perfect for envelopes. I say almost because it can't fit legal documents (well, not with the pocket zipped). This is a little annoying on rainy days when you're working, but it's not so awful to just throw the over-sized letter into the main compartment. The quick-adjust straps are fantastic for swinging the bag to the side without really taking it off. I've never used a backpack that was so much like a messenger bag in this function (which makes that side-pocket for envelopes invaluable). The bag is also totally waterproof as stated. I've rode in a downpour, came home with that feeling like you're wearing a second pair of shoes that's just water, all my clothing was soaked, but EVERYTHING inside the bag was dry as a bone. This was actually the original appeal of most chrome products for me, not messing around with garbage bags or seeking out shelter. Ride all day, err'day. Finally, this bag can carry BIG boxes. The side metal clips + the main buckle and flap can trap VERY large boxes. A full-size filing box is no problem. A bike frame, (if you're clever) is no problem. I carried three wheels once without a hitch.
So yeah. Wonderful bag. I got lucky and got it for $150 used, but after having used it, I probably would pay full price, and definitely as a messenger.

This is easily the greatest backpack ever created by a human. EVER! I have a picture of me carrying my girlfriend in this backpack. I can't understand how I can stuff this thing with so much - be it electronics, groceries, packages, etc. - and no matter the weight, it feels light as a bag of air. Aside from the comfort and storage capacity, the thing is water-tight. I recently used it as a cooler with tremendous results. To test it, I filled in with a speaker system, my laptop/harddrives, and a bunch of paper, then hopped in my shower. Not a drop entered the juggernaut that is the Warsaw. On a final note, the smaller pockets that run throughout the bag are wonderful. I especially like the document pocket that runs along the bag's side - so convenient in so many ways.
I really can't say enough about the miracle that is the Warsaw Pro. Regardless of your situation, the Warsaw will measure up to the task - whether bike messenger or girlfriend schlepper!

In the "messenger bag" section of this site there are some bad reviews. I don't know how it is possible to dislike a whole lot about Chrome bags. It sounds like those bad reviews are due to the fact that they bought (and didn't like the style of) a "messenger" bag instead of a backpack. These bags are tougher than nails. I used to own a courier company and used the Warsaw as well as another model no longer in production. They are both still going strong. The Warsaw is still with the company and the other bag I have been rocking every day for more than 4 years and it is still so solid. Bags just do NOT get any better than this.

This bag is the absolute best. It has loads of space and compartment and can haul your house on your back. The weight is evenly distributed and it looks cool even when stuffed to full capacity. Worth the money!!

All I can say is save your pennies for this one. Impeccably put together with every possible feature one could want. Quality, as with all Chrome bags, is top notch. As has been said in other reviews it will hold more gear than you would ever really need to carry yet also handles small(er) loads very nicely. Great for those who work the bike for a living or for commuting. Well done Chrome!

I wanted a bag the could carry my lrg intuos and 17 laptop. I got it and so much more.
a. Its an awesome travel bag. It fits EVERYTHING. Well built and easy access.
b. Its awesome when biking. I can ride for hours and not have it wear on my back or shoulders. Even when loaded. Other backpacks aren't capable of this.
c. I now use it to carry camera equipment and small strobes. I like it better than the "other brand" backpacks I have that are suited for this task.
All in all I'm stoked with my purchase. I am going to also buy the smaller version because its so big that when Im riding and look over my shoulder for traffic it kind of sticks out, and I don't need its load capabilities all the time. Really a sick, sick bag. I would not be wasting my time typing this If I wasn't so grateful for chrome for making such a great bag. Take a bow whoever designed this.

Love this bag. This thing is huge. I use this on my daily commute when I ride in to hold 2 pairs of clothes my work and gym and 2 pairs of shoes as well and with all that the bag is still not even half full. I also use it as a weekend bag. This bag literally swallows other bags whole. I pack everything in it for weekends laptop, iPad, clothes, jackets, my dslr camera bag with is a backpack itself, I could keep going but you get the idea of what fits into this bag at once, whatever it fits it all. I use it when I food shop to bring the grocery bags from the car up the stairs to my apartment (a weeks worth in one shot) Very comfortable to where no matter what the weight. Also my 7 year old son likes to get in it so I can carry him around the house. Fun for the whole family. If you have the means, highly recommended.

I am writing to tell you that I have now commuted to work over 120 times with my Warsaw. 31 miles round trip, and each time my gear arrives dry and ready to wear, and my sack lunch hasn't been smashed. I tried smaller bags, but nothing carried my clothes as nicely. Everything from sport coats to work out gear and a shaving kit, lots of room for miscellaneous. Although convenience pockets on the outside of the main flap would be good for keys and cell phone. Since I bought my Warsaw, my high shool kids are sporting a Soma sling and a mini-metro.

I was tired of sling-style bags digging into my shoulder. I wanted a backpack and I decided to go with the biggest one I could find. The idea was simple: there is no point getting caught with the wrong bag for a trip. If you are going to carry a bag at all, getting your back all sweaty, make sure it can hold everything you could possibly want.
The Warsaw has never let me down. It might feel heavy at first, but it sits light on the back. The best part is that it feels about the same full. I use my bag to commute every day and I never hesitate to pick up things on my way home. The outer flap is extremely expandable with a few extra straps. I've wrapped it around everything from a 12x18" Wacom Tablet to a three-bike car trunk rack. The latter was surprisingly manageable.
Made in the USA, guaranteed for life? $280 is a deal.
