These shoes are *amazing*. They gave me blisters the first several wearings and I thought I was going to have to give up but then all of a sudden they broke in and are now the most comfortable shoes I own. I usually stick Superfeet or Sole insoles in my shoes, but don't need to with these. Crazy comfortable, and they're holding up astonishingly well.
I usually wear a men's 9 or a women's 11 in most brands but went with a 9.5 for these and it's been perfect.
Buy 'em! Expect a difficult break-in period and plan accordingly.
Squeaky!

Well, my shoes are finally about broken in and, yes, it was a painful process. It appears to be true that the shoes run a half size small because I ordered a half size smaller than I usually wear and after breaking them in, the size seems almost right. Almost.
Main problem I'm having now is the squeaking when I walk! Seems to be coming from my heel rubbing on the back of the shoe. Luckily, this is not giving me blisters, but the squeaking is starting to be enough for me to avoid wearing the shoes. I'm hoping that further breaking in will eventually solve this problem.
I love the look of the shoes, but I have to say that the process of getting them to the point of being viable footwear seems unnecessarily arduous.
Comfortable, but did not hold up to my expectations

I have had these shoes for 8 months, 4 months of that being winter. I wore them at least 4 times a week and I generally take care of my shoes. As biking season rolled around, I did wear them but most of my biking involves country riding where I use clips. In other words, I was not that hard on them. Anyway to the point, the rubber trim on the bottom started to separate and the font rubber trim came completely unglued and can flap up. I glued them back together but they are by no means as nice looking as they once were.
I like how Chrome shoes look and these are comfortable shoes, but I would be wary of buying another pair.

very pretty shoes, no nonsense good looking shoe
i wear a size 12 in all other shoes which fits me perfectly, but would definitely recommend getting 11.5 or even 11, they are sized pretty big.
I think the shoe being oversized created some problems, but the shoes held up very well for about 2 years of soccer, biking, polo, and lots of walking. The soles became kind of blech and squishy after so much abuse, but they still looked really quite nice! except for the hole that developed around my big toe finally
the shoelaces were way too long and make it necessary to ALWAYS tuck them into the shoe itself, which is annoying as hell but you kind of get used to it.
Id say, that if i had gotten them in the right size, they would have been worlds better, but even so i rather liked them a lot.
Look great, feel the opposite.

Was really excited when Chrome started making shoes as I own/have owned several of their bags and have had nothing but awesome things to say about them.
However, these shoes don't live up to the standard set by Chrome's bags. The first day I wore them i got massive blisters on both feet. I took a few days off and wore bandages when i tried to wear them again, hoping i could break them in and they'd be fine. This didnt work, so I let them sit in my closet a while. Took another stab at breaking them in with thicker socks. Still super uncomfortable. Would not buy another pair of Chrome shoes.

I can usually destroy a pair of shoes in about 6 months but these have stood the test of time. I've put them thru hell and back and they basically still look new ( unless you look at the bottom which are worn down) but other then that I have never seen a pair of shoes short of work boots that hold up like these do and when/if they ever do wear down I'm just going to buy another pair. There is no better shoe out there for a daily rider. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Great shoe for longer rides

For some strange reason the cycling world has taken an extremely long time in coming out with a shoe that is both functional for riding, but has style on and off the bike. Chrome has finally done it. The Chrome Arnhem is essentially a black suede chukka boot. The Arnhem is a shoe that functions well both on and off the bike, and can surprisingly pull off a semi formal look if needed.
The look is really got me with these shoes. They really do look nice, both with shorts or pants and they can somehow pull double duty, from casual to a night out. When I first put them on I was a little worried about how they fit. They seemed a little loose in the heal cup no matter how I tightened them. I however laced them up and got on the bike for a nice ride to the store, and they felt great. When on the bike the board lasted sole distributes the pedal pressure across the front of the foot, making for a noticable comfortable ride. When I first got off the bike, my initial feels of a loose heal cup were gone. They seemed like they needed a very, very short break in period.
What really makes the Arnhem a cycling shoe is the footbed and sole. With re-inforced shank and crash pad, as well as a board lasted sole, they just seem a lot more comfortable on the bike than most shoes. Over the weeks that I have been riding with them they have definetely prevented the burning muscles in my feet from acting up. But make no mistake these shoes are not super stiff like a typical "SPD" cycling shoe, the sole still has some flex, just not as much as most shoes of a similar style.
After weeks of riding the Chrome Arnhem is really starting to grow on me. It is the small attention to details that really make the shoe stand out, there is even a very small reflective patch on the back of the shoe. It lights up great when a head light is on it, but is subtle during the day. Chrome has hit the nail on the head with these shoes, and this should help them become known for more than messenger bags. There other models come in a variety of colours, but the Arnhem, much like the early Ford automobiles, the Chrome Arnhem comes in any color, so long as it is black.
