a stunning piece of footwear. i bought the olive green pair on accident and didnt realize it until i opened the box but even with my shock at staring at this box full of puke green chrome bliss i slipped them on and pedaled my happy ass to an 8 hour work day on a concrete floor at home depot. although not the best time to break them in i couldnt not wear the distastefully amazing shoes that came by what could only be a stork because im feeling like these kicks are gonna be my baby for as long as they last. i was afraid when i first put them on because they rode a little higher than my socks but your effin dank leather strip protected my heels from undank blisters. after work i took a 2 hour ride just to feel how they reacted to t stands and hard-pushing and to my amaze my foot was not squishing like jello over the pedal climbing hills. the only problem im seeing so far is my cages are scuffing up my swede but you know what, i think in the long run i will be happy to explain that these shoes are so comfortable im not going to take them off just to keep them looking like a fashion model. a shoe is a shoe, but this shoe is one of the best first day shoe i have worn. cannot wait for the breakin to be over and really feel the comfort.

I got my midways thru the Turds for Gold event back in 2010. I've worn them almost everyday since receiving them and I love them. They've withheld everything i've put them through quite nicely. They look a little beat now a days but they're still going. There's some wear and tear at the heal and at the balls of the sole but these shoes have with stood alot more punishment then any other shoe I've owned. Thank you Chrome for an awesome shoe.

Got a pair of green Midways late last week, and I've been quite happy with them. They took a day or so to break in, but are now quite comfortable - even when I have to do a lot of walking. They look good with pretty much any casual wear. Only downside I can see is that they have 3 rivets half an inch or so above the sole on the instep, which is probably going to mean damp socks when it rains.

Around 7months of use so far with these walking around daily in the city and riding hard and I have little complaints with them. They felt good the second I put them on and still feel just as good. Everything on the shoe is holding up good and except for a few things they look like they did the first day. The one complaint I have and I had read about this previously was the outer rubber strip wears away where it attaches to the sole. Not sure if it's a glue problem or shoe design issue but it doesn't affect how the shoe feels still kicks ass. One other good thing is the insole still has tons of life after 7months! Most of my insoles on other shoes go flat within a month of hard wear. in the end if you're considering this shoe don't hesitate one bit and just buy it already!

I love these shoes and would love them more if not for 2 things.
1. They are narrow! I have slightly wider than normal feet, so that's genetics more than shoe design, but a bit wider would be nice for us flintstone-footed types.
2. The insides squeak when I walk as they rub against my socks.
Otherwise, these shoes are great on the bike and slide right in and out of my cages. A fashionable alternative for those of us that aren't into clipless riding. You can feel the great quality as soon as you put them on. That does mean they are stiff at first but after the break-in period, they're killer!

I got these last year in the Turds for Gold promo Chrome ran. They took a while to break in, but now they are my favorite shoe. They are strong, fairly weather proof, and comfy to ride in. Because of all this, I decided to try the Midway Pros.

I tried the entire line of chrome shoes before I bought this pair, these are definitely the most comfortable. They have worked great on my daily commute, and clean up nice, even every day through boston blizzards.
The one bad part is the inside heel. there is a horizontal line that can rub against your heel and give you blisters, and the fabric wears through fast. I fixed all these problems with a single piece of black gorilla tape, placed vertically from under the footbed liner to the top of the shoe. now my heel slides when it needs to, no blisters. cheap fix, don't abandon the shoes over such a small concern. Kursk would be way tougher to make comfortable.
After a year, the shoes are still very good to look at, the black rubber edge has begun to split off from the red rubber sole, and there are a few points that are worn flat. Acceptable wear pattern considering how hard these things have worked for me! I will be buying another pair when I finally wear a hole through the soles, the uppers still look nice, so no reason to get rid of them till that happens.

This shoe was recommended to me by customer service. As soon as I put them on I was in love. I have all the styles of shoes Chrome has to offer ,and by far ,these will be my favorites! Love the suede trim and leather around the inside ankle.

I wore this shoe while riding a tricycle delivering newspapers in Eugene, OR. I didn't do anything too crazy, I walked and biked in the rain, and yet they didn't hold up at all. Large parts of the rubber strip seperated from the sole in a matter of weeks. My the end of the month this strip had peeled off to the point that it would flop around while biking. I 'fixed' this with a pair of scisors. I was then left with a fuzzy gray strip intermediately broken up by black and red rubber bits. It was delightful. Soon there after I further customized my shoes by inadvertantly adding large, heel-sized holes in the thin fabric inside the shoes' heels. Nice!
Luckily after the first month I found all the defects and the shoes magically stopped aging. A year later they looked equally as shabby as after the first month. I guess the 'break"-in period is killer. (Punny. Get it? But seriously, shoes should look decent for longer than a month.)
I can't recomend these beautiful shoes because the poor workmanship doesn't merit the premium price tag.

I got mine a year ago and have worn them regularly. Within a couple months the material on the edge of the sole was wearing away, and now has fallen off in several places. The interior heelcup also wore out like I've never seen before. Great that there is a stiff heel cup, not great that the material inside is not durable. I've never had a pair of shoes that get so much attention, even when parts are falling apart. Chrome has created a new timeless style that shouldn't change, however they need to reexamine their construction. I will say that the cordura and suede uppers have held up extremely well as has the stitching. I also think there is a design flaw in that the elastic lace retention band is placed under the 'X' of the laces, so it doesn't pop up in the right place. The sole has also worn faster than I would expect it to, considering these shoes are supposed to be bomb proof. A comfort issue that I had was it took two months before the top of my foot broke in the interior seams, meaning I had blisters for a while. The last critical thing I will say is that the laces could be a bit stiffer so they avoid the twirling and remain flat, although I give HUGE PROPS for having laces with metal ends.
I hope Chrome can fix these problems because the shoes are awesome otherwise, but I would be hard pressed to pay $90 for them.

I love these shoes, but I do feel quite a bit bitter that pieces here and there started coming off and falling apart. The main reason I bought these shoes were for their Chrome brand durability, which is usually good, but not in these shoes. I was strutting them around comfortably for the first few weeks before they started dying on me. The reflectors came off first, which didn't bother me much, but then the black strip (I got the gray/white pair) ripped and came off along with the Chrome badge. The rubber around the sole of the shoe also loosened, making the shoe look worn out and allowed water to seep into the sole.
This is still a very nice pair of shoes though. The thick cloth material is very durable and can take a good scrubbing when dirty. The metal aglets kept my shoelaces from splitting. I have worn these shoes on and off for several months; I was hoping that they would last longer than some of my other shoes that I have paid less for though.

So My previous Midways started to have the rubber peel away from the sole within a week of wearing them. I wrote a review and chrome replaced the shoes. I ended up going with another pair of midways. Unfortunately the new pair has not been any better.
Pros:
comfortable. look good. semi-water-resistant (my feet don't get wet when there's a light rain). Pretty wind resistant as well.
Cons:
it all comes down to construction, which unfortunately is poor. The bottom peels away from the sole quickly (old pair), reflective stripe fell off, on the new pair which is a day old the cordora which comes over the ankle and attaches with the inside liner of the shoe is coming unstiched. To me that just speaks to poor quality control and poor construction. Especially when I compare that to some Pumas that I have that are at least 5 years old and have held up better.
Overall:
a good shoe, if they could get some quality control and better glue and construction of the shoe.

I like chrome gear, I like the materials because they look tough as though they will last. I have two pairs of Chrome shoes, and they're both falling to pieces. It sucks cause they look rock solid, but I'll have I'd have to agree with others, you guys need stronger glue. It seems that the sole is the problem. Once you fix that, I'll start buying them again until then, I wouldn't recommend them to others.

Overall the shoe is not horrible, but if I didn't get these on sale I'd be wanting my money back. The cordura and suede are durable and somewhat water resistent so far. The soles are also quite comfortable for riding and walking around in for a large portion of the day. The white rubber used to seal around the bottom of the shoe started to peel off the first day with little fabric fibers hanging out the sides. As for the reflective strips, they must not have been glued on that well cause after about a week, I noticed they were missing entirely from the shoes. I haven't had the shoes that long so it's concerning that they are starting to peel and wear this quickly, but I'll see how they last. I wish they would have used the tarp liner in the shoe and coppied their bag design to make a more all weather shoe for those of use that don't live in San Francisco and have to experience all four seasons with rain and snow and lots of wetness. Like I said, comfortable, but I'm concerned about how fast they are beginng to wear down since I've had them only about a month and if I had paid 90$ for them I'd be more upset.

A very nice, cozy shoe which, in my opinion, is one of the best shoes on the biking market. The Kursks that I have were stiff to break in and the rubber around the bottom heels came loose after a few weeks but these show no sign of that after a near month. These feel über great while both riding and walking around campus.

I really like the stiff sole and the thick leather details, witch don't seem to wear at all. That dont help much tough, as the the outer band of the rubber sidewall almost fell of after only 2-3 weeks on one of the shoes. I glued it back on, but that only lastet a few weeks. Cheap glue perhaps?

Just picked up these little beauties at the Lizard Lounge in Portland, OR for 50% off! They retail for about 3x the cost of Chucks but definitely perform more than 3x better. I have no doubt that these shoes are built to last and I will wear them down to the last molecules of cordura, suede and vulcanized rubber. BEWARE: chrome says that they run the same size as converse. I wear size 11 cons but size 12 chromes. Enjoy!

I pretty much fell in love with these shoes the second I put them on. They fit my feet perfectly, they're tough and durable, and to top it off, they keep my feet warm! They keep my feet warmer and drier than any other similar shoe I've ever worn. I also feel like these things will last me ten times as long. When they do eventually wear down, I'm definitely getting Chrome again. Chrome rules.

Tings are great! Size is right on. Can't wait to get another pair. CHROME ROCKS

High quality material, love walking in them. Feel like a GOD.

I love my shoes. Solid, comfortable.. I bit to narrow at the toes.
10/26/10 by David
I've gotta say... this shoe is incredible. Built really really well using some great materials. I'd have to disagree though with the site recommendation to purchase the size that you would normally purchase for a pair of chucks. I wear a 12 normally for most tennis shoes (sometimes even a 13), and an 11 in Chucks... I ordered a 12 and I'm glad I did. The 11 would have been WAY WAY too small.

I got these from the "turds for gold" campaign and I am amazed how great the quality is. These shoes are 100 times better than Chuck Taylors for twice the price. I would have already worn out a pair of Chucks but these are still practically brand new after 6 months and I wear them everyday. I will be buying Chrome shoes in the future for sure!
9/4/10 by Plaindave
I'm amazed at how comfortable these shoes are. I can wear them all day at work and feel great at the end of the day. Way better than a pair of chuck taylors and there is a shank in the sole that gives support when pedaling. I'll be getting another pair if these wear out.
9/2/10 by Troy Campbell
This is not your pair of 1985 Vans with a new facade. This shoe has support, longevity and an aesthetic that says "old school soul" with "new school sophistication." The Midway doesn't feel like merely a slipper with an upper, and it won't leave your feet fatigued after an afternoon on the platform pedals.

Great rugged shoes, built tough as hell. Awesome stiff sole for riding, but yet till extremely comfortable.

I got a pair of black Midways about 2 months ago and started waring them to do my bike rides. They offer the best foot to peddle contact that I have ever had out side of bike clips. they totally rock for just riding and hanging out
9/2/10 by Chris
I have been wearing these shoes to ride daily since the "Turds-for-Gold" promotion a few months ago, and love them! Not only are they designed for great performance, but they also look killer. I have gotten more complements on my midways than any other shoe I have ever owned. Just an all around solid cycling shoe!
9/2/10 by Fred
Shoe looks aggressive and it is.. Great material. This shoe feels good and looks good. I would highly recommend this shoe.
9/2/10 by Mason
An overall winner! I work at bike shop shop and these shoes do it all. I can commute into work, work all day long and ride back home all in the same shoe. No lugging around multiple pairs of shoes back and forth. Not to mention they look great. Chrome can do no wrong in my book!
9/2/10 by adam
THese shoes work good for bicycling. The key element is the stiff sole with limited flex. They are more waterproof than most other shoes and the tread is super grippy. You don't realize how good they are until you wear a pair of chucks after. Also, elastic band for holding laces!
9/2/10 by andrew martinez
a little warm for the summers here in the desert, but fall is just around the corner. they blow my chucks away. i get a lot of complements from the other rats. thanks chrome

I've been in the Midways for about six months and this shoe rocks. perfect for everyday comfort and even better on the commute. the perfect bike to bar kicks that are built for the long haul!
9/2/10 by Matthew Smith
These are great shoes, nice stiff bottom for pedaling and strong upper construction.
Also, had been looking for brown shoes with a black sole for a couple years, and you've finally filled the niche Chrome! Thanks!
