The Tobruk is my favorite Chrome shoe. I had back surgery about a year and a half ago, which led me to start wearing slip-ons. I no longer have a problem bending over to tie my shoes but I love the ease of slip-ons. These Chrome shoes are great for the bike and for walking. I love the tread on the bottom. I still use toe clips instead of clipless pedals and the tread on these grabs the pedals really well. I also walk from Bernal Heights to Soma every day, not that all of you know what that means, but it is a 4 mile walk. I wear these day in and day out and love them.

I was just about to leave for the mall and buy another pair of 90-day wonders( Airwalks, Dexters, etc.) when I came to the CHROME site to look at backpacks and Lo and Behold! I have one of your messenger bags but the guys at the bike shop never told me you guys had a full line of goods. I saw the TOBRUKS and jumped on them like a bum on a baloney sandwich. I got them yesterday and have already gotten many comments and questions on them. All positive. I was a little worried about the sizing issues I had read about in the previous reviews. I ordered a 9.5 and they fit my 9.5 feet like a glove. A cool looking and well-made shoe. I'll be back for a backpack!

I love the shoes design and its ability to withstand pretty much anything, sadly i could only wear them for about a month before they started to make the bone on the outside of my feet hurt..bad. I inspected the shoes and I think it is the mold of the arch on the shoe, it is really stiff for durability but lacks the flexibility and compression. The hard rubber part pushes to much on the bone. I had to stop wearing them everyday and only when I riding my bike. I would give it more stars, its just that i can't wear them all the time.

This was one of two styles recommended by customer service. These I will live in as well as the Midways(the other pair recommended) ! I have all the styles and this is my fav along with the midways!

These shoes fit to the converse size. I am an 8.5 and ordered a 7.5 from chrome and they fit perfect. A little tough at first, but once broken in they're the best slip on Ive purchased. Great for skating, biking, and just walking. The one thing i find a little annoying are the holes by the arch of the foot. Not so nice on wet days. Other than that the Tubruk is a very solid shoe, hasn't torn or ripped on me for the past few months.

First Off im an Avid Cyclist, Im a daily commuter. Second i tend to be very hard on shoes in general, most shoes last me maybe 6 months if im lucky. THESE shoes are for lack of a better word BULLETPROOF, the low ratings and bad quality reviews are beyond baffling to me, These are the best shoes iv ever purchesed, Iv had them just over a year and there is literally no wear and tear. If you are a toe clip rider and looking for a shoe to ride more casually with cages this is your shoe! the rock hard build of the shoes makes you feel as if you were clipped into the pedal! A MUST BUY

I ripped the side off my chromes quickly. Like some of these people I tore my chromes up kinda fast like half a year. However the six other people I know to own and wear chromes on a regular basis are none of them having trouble with their pairs. And all shoes ever worn by me get torn up real fast like, probably these others are kinda tuff on shoes. Plus Chrome gave me these shoes for free (Turds for Gold). I will buy a new pair in the spring. I was sent a brown Midway and I intend to buy a grey Tobruk. Thanks Chrome.

they're more expensive than Vans, heavier, and way better looking. as far the trendy meter goes these things are off the scale, they are Chrome after all. the fit is pretty true as far as i can tell, i wear a 12 in vans and they're a bit small. a 12 in these is pretty much perfect.
BUT! these shoes are 70 bucks. for the first two weeks, it will be worth it. the fiberglass insole is stiff making pedaling more comfortable, the general sole is holding up making it comfy to walk on and the cordura is soft. but i bought these in september and today is december 2nd and the vulcanized outersole is falling apart, the heel is bare and the plastic rubbing against my heel wearing out my socks. these shoes are feeling finished and it has been 3 months. i'm sorry, Chrome, i love you, but i love you enough to be honest, these shoes are terrible and i wouldn't recommend them to lamest, flashy hipster poser.

I was on the search for some shoes to wear riding in the winter - my Vans kept falling apart and getting holes in them. I have had my chrome shoes for 3 months now and they are awesome - super comfortable on my feet plus they keep my feet totally dry in the rain and snow. I didn't have any trouble breaking them in - they were comfortable from day 1. On the bottom is some slip resistant thing which has saved me a few times - not sure what the official name is. Thanks chrome for making some kick ass shoes.

These do not fit like regular shoes, they fit the same as chuck's weird sizing. So go use the size conversion tool on converse.com to order the correct size.
The large piece of grooved rubber that wraps around the toe area is poorly glued to the rest of the shoe. If the inside of your foot ever happens to graze your crank arms it'll start to peel away from the shoe. Where the rubber meets the heel is also starting to wear out prematurely.
Reflective detail on the heel is a nice touch. I've been told they look like slippers however, sigh.
Back to my trusty old vulcanized Adiadas Superskate slip ons for me.

The side rubber parts are all flaking out. :(

Does anyone thing the outer rubber lining of these shoes is weak?
Maybe i kick my feet together a lot, but the red rubber along the bottom came off really quickly. (less that 1 month wear)
I haven't had the problem with any shoe before

Easily the best slip-on you're going to find. Good support, good fit, perfect for riding (no laces to worry about). If you're thinking about buying them, stop thinking. These are worth the money.

Their sizing is like Chucks.
Takes a few extra days of riding to break in
but its totally worth it.
Pliable enough up top to walk around in
while stiff enough from the middle to heel to do some serious sprints.
Nice padded heel--feels like gel, or something--, slight arch, and a padded tongue.
Just wish they came in more colors.

These are pretty genius, a great improvement on other brand's slip ons.

Got these during the Gold for Turds event. Traded in a ratty old pair of Vans for these beasts and couldn't be happier. They are super comfortable but stiff enough to ride in regularly. The break in very nice and are tough as nails. I have gotten a lot of compliments on them and couldn't be happier. The sizing does run small so double check before ordering. Chome staff is super helpful and will get you sorted out right away!
